How to announce a funding round on X: what 191 real posts from 2026 show
The short answer
Announce the raise on a Monday to Thursday morning, Pacific time, from the founder's own account, with a video and something people can try. Open with what the money is for, not who invested. Then have your investors, your team and creators your buyers follow quote it in the first hour.
That's what the most-viewed funding posts of 2026 had in common. We checked 191 funding announcements on X posted between 7 April and 15 October 2026. The median one reached 282K views, about 75 times the poster's following, and 47 passed 1 million. The posts that paired the raise with a product launch got twice the median views of posts about the raise alone.
Below you'll find the full numbers, the opening lines that worked, templates you can copy and a day-by-day plan.
The 2026 benchmark: 191 funding announcements on X
We collected 191 public posts in which a startup announced a new funding round on X, from a public directory of startup launch posts. Then we checked every post's views, followers, format and timing ourselves on 16 October 2026. The rounds run from $1.5M to Crusoe's $3.9B Series F.
We judge reach by the multiple of following: views divided by the account's followers. It shows how far a post travelled past the people who already follow you. (Follower counts are today's, so the true multiples were a little higher.)
2026 funding announcements on X
191 posts, 7 April to 15 October 2026: the benchmark
- 1282KMedian views on a funding announcement.75x the account's followers
- 247 postsPassed 1 million views. Six passed 5 million.Top post: 25.3M views
- 32xMedian views when the raise came with a product launch: 497K against 241K.50 posts did both
- 483%Went live between 6am and noon Pacific, and 96% from Monday to Thursday.Tuesday was the busiest day
Read these as what a well-run announcement can reach, not what a typical one gets. The directory lists launches that were planned. 188 of the 191 had a video, and many will have had creators or ads behind them, which X also counts as views. We didn't run any of these announcements.
The most-viewed funding posts of 2026
The twelve funding announcements with the most views between April and mid-October 2026. Seven of the twelve came from accounts with fewer than 15,000 followers.
| Funding post | Round | Views | Multiple of following | Posted by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sabi, Rahul Chhabra | $50M | 25.3M | about 2,658x | Founder, no video |
| Polar Browser, Kevin Jiang | $5.7M | 13.0M | about 3,119x | Founder |
| Etched, Company account | $700M | 7.8M | about 128x | Company |
| Emergent, Mukund Jha | $130M Series C | 6.5M | about 410x | Founder |
| Fish Audio, Company account | $52M seed | 6.3M | about 176x | Company, with a launch |
| Polsia, Ben Cera | $30M | 5.9M | about 98x | Founder |
| Judgment Labs, Alex Shan | $32M | 3.6M | about 2,626x | Founder, with a launch |
| Hobbes, Chirag Kulkarni | $6M | 3.5M | about 2,721x | Founder |
| Valar Atomics, Isaiah Taylor | $1B Series B | 3.2M | about 23x | Founder |
| Parallax, Carl Schoeller | $117M | 2.9M | about 1,427x | Founder, with a launch |
| Taste Labs, Thais Castello Branco | $18.5M seed | 2.8M | about 215x | Founder, with a launch |
| Flam, Shourya Agarwal | $40M Series B | 2.4M | about 2,250x | Founder |
Two things stand out. A founder's own account posted 10 of the 12. And the size of the round tells you almost nothing: a $5.7M raise sits second, above $700M and $1B rounds.
What the numbers say
- Pair the raise with a launch. The 50 posts that announced a product with the money got a median of 497K views. The 141 that announced the raise alone got 241K. A raise gives people a reason to look. A product gives them something to do.
- The round size barely matters. Bigger rounds got somewhat more views, but the link was weak. Polar Browser announced $5.7M and reached about 13M views. Hobbes announced $6M and reached about 3.5M from 1,285 followers. Valar Atomics announced $1B and reached about 3.2M.
- A small account isn't a blocker. 42 posts came from accounts with under 1,000 followers. Their median was about 80K views, roughly 200 times their following. RADAR's announcement came from an account with 396 followers and reached about 1.8M views.
- The founder's account travels further. Founder posts reached a median of 95 times their following, company accounts 34 times. Raw views were close (276K and 301K), because company accounts started bigger. In our second check of 15 posts, the gap in raw views was much wider.
- Video is the norm. 188 of the 191 posts had a video. The biggest of all, Sabi's $50M announcement at about 25M views, was one of the three without.
- Mornings, early in the week. 159 of 191 went live between 6am and noon Pacific, and 183 from Monday to Thursday. Tuesday was the most common day by far.
- Funding posts get likes, not saves. Only 6 of the 191 had more bookmarks than likes. People congratulate a raise. They save a product they want to try, which is one more reason to launch something with it.
Round size vs reach
Median views by round size, 188 posts that named an amount
A bigger round helped a little. Small rounds travelled further for their size.
If your round is small, that's not a reason to stay quiet. Rounds under $10M travelled about 112 times their following, the furthest of any group. What decides the result is the story, the video and who shares it in the first hours.
Openers that worked in 2026
The first line decides whether anyone reads the second. These patterns turned up again and again among the most-viewed posts.
- "We raised [$X] to [verb] [the thing your buyers hate]." Hobbes: "We raised $6M to kill the book-a-demo button" (about 3.5M views). Playad: "We raised $5.4M to make paid ads run themselves" (about 1.7M from 686 followers). Photon: "We raised a $4.5M seed to let agents text people" (about 1.2M).
- Launch and raise in one line. Judgment Labs: "We're launching @JudgmentLabs today and announcing $32M in funding" (about 3.6M views).
- Proof in the first line. Polar Browser opened with the raise and a benchmark claim about its AI browser (about 13M views).
- A bold statement first. Kos: "China is winning the AI race." (about 926K views from 540 followers). Clouted: "Nobody believes in you, so make them." (about 1.7M).
34 of the 191 posts opened with "We raised", "We've raised" or "We just raised". 62 opened with "Introducing", "Today" or "Announcing".
Our second check: 15 funding posts we picked
Before the big benchmark, we picked 15 funding announcements ourselves from AI and tech startups, posted between January 2025 and October 2026, to compare founder and company accounts and video against text. These weren't drawn from a launch list, so they're closer to an ordinary announcement.
Our second check: median views on 15 funding posts we picked
Founder accounts and video posts travelled furthest
| Funding post | Round | Account | Media | Views | Multiple of following |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mintlify, Han Wang, co-founder (Apr 2026) | $45M Series B | Founder | Video | 616K | about 52x |
| Gumloop, Max Brodeur-Urbas, CEO (Mar 2026) | $50M Series B | Founder | Video | 323K | about 16x |
| Fluidstack, Jamie Cox, co-founder (Jul 2026) | $830M | Founder | Text | 149K | about 51x |
| Gushwork, Nayrhit B, co-founder (Feb 2026) | $9M seed | Founder | Video | 136K | about 15x |
| Axiom, Carina Hong (Mar 2026) | $200M Series A | Founder | Text | 126K | about 7x |
| Humanoid, Company account (Jul 2026) | $152M Series A | Company | Image | 118K | about 19x |
| Patronus AI, Company account (Jun 2026) | $50M Series B | Company | Video | 96K | about 35x |
| Cartesia, Karan Goel, founder and CEO (Mar 2025) | Series A | Founder | Text | 87K | about 4x |
| Weave, Adam Cohen, founder (Jul 2025) | $4.2M seed | Founder | Video | 29K | about 8x |
| Airweave, Lennert Jansen, co-founder (Jul 2025) | $6M seed | Founder | Text | 17K | about 19x |
| Ricursive Intelligence, Company account (Jan 2026) | $300M Series A | Company | Text | 17K | about 3x |
| Synthefy, Somi Agarwal, CEO (Aug 2026) | $6.5M seed | Founder | Text | 15K | about 125x |
| Artisan, Jaspar Carmichael-Jack, CEO (Apr 2025) | $25M Series A | Founder | Video | 8.7K | about 4x |
| Fazeshift, Company account (Jan 2025) | $4M seed | Company | GIF | 3.7K | about 7x |
| Lightsprint, Company account (Oct 2026) | $6.1M seed | Company | Text | 2.7K | about 11x |
Here the gap was clear. Founder posts got a median of 106K views and company posts 17K. Posts with a video got 116K and posts without got 17K. A sample of 15 is small, so read it as a pattern, not a law.
Before you post: three checks
- Can you talk about it yet? If you're still raising, or the round isn't closed, ask your lawyer what you can say in public before you post. Rules on talking about a raise depend on how the round is set up.
- Do your investors agree on the date and the wording? Agree the amount you'll share, who led, the valuation (or not), and the exact time. Investors often post their own announcement, so line them up for the same hour.
- Is there a press exclusive? If a journalist has the story under embargo, your X post goes live the minute the embargo lifts. Put the article link in your first reply, not the main post, so the post stays about the news. Fluidstack's founder posted months after the round closed and still reached about 149K views, so you don't have to rush.
What to put in the post
A funding post has five parts. Short posts can fold them into one line and a video, like Mintlify and Gumloop did. Longer posts give each its own line.
- What you do, for the reader. One plain line a stranger understands. "To build the knowledge infrastructure for AI" did this for Mintlify.
- The round. The amount and stage, and who led it. Add the valuation only if you want it quoted everywhere.
- Why now. One piece of proof: customers, revenue growth, a launch, a number. Patronus AI shared that revenue had grown more than 15 times in a year.
- What's next. What the money is for. Most posts also say they're hiring, which turns attention into applicants.
- Something to watch or try. A video, a demo, a new release, or a link in the first reply.
One line, the round and a video. Nothing else.

What to show in the video
188 of the 191 funding posts in our 2026 benchmark had a video. You don't need a big production. Pick one of these and keep it to 30 to 90 seconds, with captions on screen because plenty of people scroll with the sound off.
- The product doing its job. A screen recording of the thing people will use, start to finish. Best when the product is easy to show.
- The journey. How the team got here, told fast. Gumloop's CEO posted a video about the team's journey with a one-line post, and reached about 323K views.
- The founder on camera. Two or three sentences on why this matters now. Works at seed, when the founder is the story.
- A customer result. A customer saying what changed, with their permission.
Pick the format
| Format | When it works | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| One line plus a video | You have a strong video: the product working, the team, or the journey. | Mintlify, 616K views. Gumloop, 323K. Playad, 1.7M. |
| A long post (over 280 characters, needs X Premium) | You have a clear thesis or a mission people will argue with. | Fluidstack, 149K. Axiom, 126K. Gushwork, 136K with a video. |
| A short text post | You're pairing the raise with another launch, or you're early and want it quick. | Cartesia, 87K, posted with new model updates. |
| A thread | You need several steps to tell the story, like a product tour. | Artisan's 7-post thread, 8.7K. |
In our check of 15, nine posts were longer than 280 characters, and the top two were the shortest. Length didn't decide the result. The first line and the video did.
The best day and time to announce
When the 191 posts went live (Pacific time)
Tuesday morning was the most common slot
Tuesday was the most common day by far: 75 of 191 posts. Wednesday and Monday posts had higher medians, and the 7 Friday posts did very well, but those groups are small. Weekends were almost empty, because the people you want (investors, buyers, journalists, hires) read X at work.
Post between 6am and 9am Pacific if you can. That's 9am to noon on the East Coast, before meetings in the Bay Area, and the late afternoon in Europe, so all three are awake for the first hours.
The day-by-day plan
The funding announcement plan
Two weeks of prep for one big day
- 12 weeks beforeAgree the date and wording with investors. Pick the story. Book the press exclusive if you want one.
- 21 week beforeFilm the video. Write the founder post, the company post and the pinned reply. Brief creators.
- 3The day beforeSend every investor, teammate and creator the time, the link and a suggested line.
- 4Announcement dayFounder posts first. Investors, team and creators quote it in the first hour. Reply to everyone.
- 5The week afterHiring post, a thread on what's next, and a thank-you that shows the product again.
Most of the work happens before the post goes live. On the day, your job is to be online, reply to people, and make sure the people you lined up actually post.
Announcement day: who posts what, and when
| Who | What they post | When |
|---|---|---|
| Founder | The main announcement, with the video or something to try | At the agreed time |
| Pinned reply | Press or blog link, product link, careers link | Straight after the main post |
| Company account | Quotes the founder's post with the product angle | Within 15 minutes |
| Lead investor | Quotes it with why they invested | Within the first hour |
| Team | Quote posts: what they work on and why they joined | Within the first hour |
| Creators your buyers follow | Their own take: what the product does and who it's for | First 1 to 3 hours |
| The founder's version for buyers and hires | Same day |
The first hours matter most. Posts that pick up replies and quotes early tend to reach more people, which is why the asks go out before the day, not during it. Investor accounts can be big: a16z's post about leading Inferact's $150M seed reached about 200K views on its own. Paid creator posts must carry X's paid partnership label.
Pair the raise with something people can try
A raise is news for a day. A product people can try keeps working after it. In the 2026 benchmark, posts that paired the raise with a launch got twice the median views: 497K against 241K. Fish Audio announced a $52M seed with a public model launch and reached about 6.3M views. A few more examples from our second check:
- Cartesia announced its Series A together with new model updates.
- Patronus AI announced its Series B with a preview of a new product for training AI agents.
- Weave announced its seed round with the release of its platform.
- Gushwork announced its seed round as its AI Search product opened to everyone.
Gushwork also ended its post with an offer: reply with the company's name and they'd send a link. That turns congratulations into replies from people who want the product.
If you have nothing new to ship, show the product working in the video. The X Launch Playbook covers the launch side in full.
Seed, Series A and later
| Stage | Lead with | Main goal |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-seed and seed | The problem and why you, in the founder's words | Early users, first hires, people to follow along |
| Series A | Proof it works: customers, growth, a launch | Hiring and inbound from buyers |
| Series B and later | The bigger plan and what the money builds | Hiring, partners and category leadership |
At seed, the founder's story is often the whole post. Later, proof matters more than story, and the video can show the product at scale.
For San Francisco startups
Eight of the 15 posts in our second check came from accounts that list San Francisco as their location, including Gumloop, Patronus AI, Cartesia and Artisan. If you're in the Bay Area, 6am to 9am Pacific is also your own morning, so you can be online to reply. X is where much of the Bay Area's tech crowd reads funding news, so the people you want to hire and sell to are likely already there.
If you're a YC company, the same plan fits around Demo Day. See how YC startups launch on X, or how we work with San Francisco AI startups.
How to measure it
- Multiple of following. Views divided by followers. Across the 2026 benchmark the median was about 75 times, and 161 of 191 passed 10 times. In our second check of 15 more ordinary posts, the median was about 15 times.
- Quotes from the right people. Did investors, customers and creators your buyers follow add their own take?
- Applicants. Count job applications and DMs about roles in the week after.
- Sign-ups and demo requests. Use a tracked link in the pinned reply so you can see what came from X.
- New followers on the founder's account. They're the audience for your next launch.
Likes will look high and saves low. Across the 191 posts, engagement was a median of about 0.42% of views and bookmarks about 1 per 1,000 views. Treat the likes as congratulations, not demand.
Mistakes to avoid
- Posting only from the company account. Founder posts travelled about 95 times their following in the 2026 benchmark, company posts 34 times.
- Leading with the investors. Start with what you do for the reader. Thank investors after.
- Relying on the amount. A big number doesn't spread a post by itself. A $5.7M raise out-travelled a $1B one in 2026, and Ricursive's $300M post got about 17K views.
- Tagging people instead of asking them. Ask investors and your team a week before, with the time and a suggested line.
- Nothing to try. Without a product, a demo or a careers link, the attention ends with congratulations. Raise-only posts got half the median views of raise-plus-launch posts.
- Posting at the weekend or late in the day. Almost none of the 191 did. Your investors, buyers and hires read X at work.
- Posting before the embargo or before investors are ready. Agree one time and stick to it.
- Going quiet after the post. Reply to people for the first hours. Early replies help the post reach more people.

Frequently asked questions
When should you announce a funding round?
After the round has closed and your investors agree on the date and wording. Many startups time it with a launch or a press story. There's no rush: Fluidstack's founder announced a round months after it closed and still reached about 149K views.
Should the founder or the company account announce it?
The founder. In our 2026 benchmark of 191 posts, founder posts reached about 95 times their following and company posts about 34 times. In our second check of 15 posts, founder posts got a median of 106K views and company posts 17K. Have the company account quote the founder's post.
What is the best day and time to announce a funding round on X?
Monday to Thursday, early morning Pacific time. Of 191 funding announcements in 2026, 183 went live Monday to Thursday and 159 between 6am and noon Pacific. Tuesday was the most common day. Weekends were almost empty.
Does the size of the round affect how many views it gets?
Less than you'd think. In 2026, bigger rounds got somewhat more views, but the link was weak. A $5.7M raise reached about 13M views, while a $1B raise reached about 3.2M. Rounds under $10M travelled furthest relative to the account's following.
Do you need a video for a funding announcement?
Almost every big one had one: 188 of the 191 funding posts in our 2026 benchmark included a video. In our second check of 15 posts, posts with a video got a median of 116K views against 17K without.
How long should a funding announcement post be?
As long as the story needs. The two biggest posts in our sample were one line plus a video. Long posts over 280 characters, which need X Premium, also did well when they argued a clear point.
Should you tag your investors in the post?
You can, but tags don't spread a post. Ask investors before the day to quote the post with their own reason for investing. That's what brings their audience in.
How many views does a funding announcement get on X?
In our 2026 benchmark of 191 planned announcements, the median was about 282K views, roughly 75 times the account's followers, and 47 passed 1 million. In our second check of 15 more ordinary posts, the median was about 87K and 15 times the following. Judge yours against your own follower count: under 1 time means it barely left your audience.
Do you still need press if you announce on X?
Press and X do different jobs. An article gives you a link to share and something for investors to cite. The X post is where people react. If you have an exclusive, post on X when the embargo lifts and put the article in your first reply.
Should you post your valuation?
Only if you're happy to see it quoted everywhere. Some founders share it, like Axiom and Mintlify. Many don't. Agree it with your investors first.
